Richard P. Slater, CFP®, is the owner of the company and has served as its sole investment adviser since the company's inception in 2008. He has been a member of good standing in the Financial Planning Association since 2005 and was accepted into the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) in 2015. NAPFA is the country's leading professional association of Fee-Only financial advisors, highly trained professionals who are committed to serving as fiduciaries by working in the best interests of the clients they serve.

Rick was born and raised in Syracuse New York and moved to Reston Virginia in 1997 with his wife Ellen Douglas, a community volunteer and retired educator, after their son graduated from college. As the sixth child in a family of eight children, Rick put himself through college, earning a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from SUNY Empire. He enjoyed a 25year career as a software engineer, obtaining 4 patents. During this time, he also enjoyed a lucrative hobby in investments and began to be sought by family and friends with questions about fiscal matters.

Rick decided to pursue a second career in finance and earned an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from Georgetown University in 2005. Shortly thereafter, he achieved the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certificate from the CFP Board of Standards. As a fiduciary and Fee-Only financial planner and investment manager, Rick does not sell any products or accept any commissions. Rick appreciates working with a wide range of clients of various ages and backgrounds to help them achieve their financial goals.
